Sorrow And Grace

*By Ricky L. Mohl Sr.*

Ask upon the soil to saturate and nourish,
Who might wither and who shall flourish?
Imploring the Heavens for a sweeter taste,
A search further ahead on want and waste.

Ocean breaking waves pound gray sands,
Timeless frozen moment carved in hands.
The glimmer of hope strikes edge of night.
Solace and solitude stirs the morning light.

Unfettered but bound by chains that bind,
So silently tame and then get cast behind.
Wishes before roses of sorrow and grace,
Reflection in a window of shadowed face.

Such a newborn breath of sweet lullabies,
Hope springs deceitful from umbilical lies.
A quest for seasons, solstice and equinox,
And vacancy of cradle weeps in candlebox.

In a touchstone test the cornerstone fails,
The hourglass sands seek the ocean sails.
And in a moment when love shall pounce,
The half empty glass is but a single ounce.
